Jeera rice is an Indian dish consisting of rice and cumin seeds. It is a popular dish in North India as an everyday rice dish. Trust me it is veryyy easy to prepare it.

Ingredients :
For Jeera Rice -
2 cups Basmati Rice
1 bay leaf (Tej Patta)
4 cloves (Laung)
4 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp hing (Asafoetida)
10-12 curry leaves
salt as per taste
2 tbsp black pepper powder
For Dal Fry-
1 cup Tur Dal
2 Chopped Onion
4-5 chopped garlic cloves
4 tbsp oil
2 chopped tomatoes
3 green chillies
2 red chillies
1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves
Recipe -
For Jeera Rice:
- Wash basmati rice and add water as required, usually we add 1 and half cup water for 1 cup of rice (but still it depends on quality of rice that you are using)
- Add 1 Bay leaf, 4 cloves and pressure cook it
- Heat 4 tbsp oil, add 2 tsp of Cumin seeds (Jeera), 1/2 tsp of hing, 10-12 curry leaves. Allow them to crackle on high flame (Don't burn it)
- Turn off the stove.
- Now add the cooked rice, 2 tbsp black pepper powder (you can add more/less depending on your spice taste levels), salt as per taste and mix gently.
- Yummy Jeera Rice is ready.
For Dal Fry:
- Wash Tur Dal well, add one small chopped onion, required water and pressure cook it
- Heat 4 tbsp Oil, add 1 tsp mustard seeds(rai), 1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeera), 1/2 tsp hing, 1 tsp haldi (Turmeric), 2 red chillies, 3 green chillies. Allow them to crackle
- Now Add chopped garlic, onion, saute well till it leaves oil
- Now add chopped tomatoes and saute well for 2-3 mins
- Mash the cooked da well and add it in kadhai
- Add 1 tbsp salt, 1/4 cup water and cook for 3-4 mins
- Add fresh chopped coriander leaves
- Garnish with 1 tbsp full ghee
- Serve Hot with Jeera Rice
