Idly Upma is one of the peppiest ways to have Idly! Although it is a great way to use up leftover Idly.

Makes 2 servings
Ingredients:
3 cups idly cut into pieces
2 tbsp oil
2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
6 to 7 curry leaves (kadi patta)
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tbsp black pepper powder
1 1/2 tbsp tomato ketchup
salt to taste
Recipe:
1. Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the mustard seeds.
2. When the seeds crackle add the curry leaves green chilies and onion and sauté on a
medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
3. Add the tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, 2 tbsp of water, mix well and cook
on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes till it leaves oil.
4. Add the tomato ketchup and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame
for 1 minute, while stirring continuously.
5. Add the idly pieces, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring
continuously.
6. Switch off the flame, sprinkle the black pepper powder and mix well.
7. Serve hot.
