Oats Khichidi

Oats khichdi recipe is one the most healthiest dinner with variety of vegetables in it.

Ingredients :

½ cup moong dal
1 cup rolled oats
cumin / jeera - 1 tsp
1 inch ginger chopped
1 green chilli chopped
onion finely chopped - 1 small
½ carrot chopped
4 beans chopped
4 cups water
½ tsp turmeric
pinch of hing / asafetida
1 tsp ghee
salt to taste

Recipe:

  1. First, wash and soak moong dal in water for 5 minutes.
  2. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and hing.
  3. when they sizzle, add curry leaves and ginger. saute till it turns aromatic.
  4. Now Add chopped onions, green chilli and saute till they change colour to pinkish.
  5. Add tomatoes and fry till they turn soft.
  6. Add carrot and beans (or veggies of your choice) and saute for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Drain the water from half cup dal and add along with turmeric. fry for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  8. Now add 1 cup of oats, salt and fry for about 2 minutes.
  9. Pour 4 cups of water. and give a mix.
  10. You can adjust the quantity of water to make it mushy or slightly grainy. on a medium flame, pressure cook for two whistle.
  11. Finally, serve oats khichdi warm after garnishing with some coriander leaves with raita.
