Samosa Recipe

A samosa is a fried or baked snack with a savory filling. Its one of the famous Indian snacks that is served along with tea / Coffee. 

This recipe shows its stuffing with Potato, you can also use various kind of stuffings like onions, corns, spinach etc... Its your way of thinking and liking 😃

Ingredients : Makes 35-40 Samosas

FOR DOUGH -

2 cups All purpose flour (maida)
1 tbsp Carom seeds (Ajwain)
3 tbsp oil
1 tbsp salt
1/2 tbsp baking soda
water as required


FOR STUFFING -

10-15 garlic cloves
6-7 boiled and mashed potatoes
2-3 pieces of ginger
3 finely chopped onions
3 green chillies
1/2 cup coriander
6-7 curry leaves
2 tbsp red chilli powder
2 tbsp salt
1 tbsp corainder seeds
1 cup coriander leaves
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp mustard seeds (Rai)
1 tbsp Turmeric (Haldi)

Recipe -

DOUGH -

  1. Mix all the ingredients and knead well to form a medium dough (Not too hard / not too soft)
  2. Allow it to rest for 30 mins

STUFFING -
  1. Crush the ginger and garlic - Keep aside
  2. Heat 4-5 tbsp oil, add 1 tbsp Cumin seeds, 1 tbsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tbsp hing, 1 tbsp turmeric (haldi) - Allow them to crackle
  3. Now add curry leaves, green chillies, 1/2 tbsp coriander seeds, 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  4. Add chopped onions, 2 tbsp red chilli powder - Saute well
  5. Add 1 tbsp coriander powder, mashed potatoes, 2 tbsp salt and mix well
  6. Add 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves, 1/2 lemon juice, mix well
  7. Your stuffing is ready 😊
  8. Keep aside and allow it to cool.

SAMOSAs -

1. After 30 mins, knead the dough for 2-3 mins and make it soft.
2. Take small portion of dough, roll out in a thin round shape.
3. Now cut the circle from center into 2 equal portions as shown below -


4. Take one portion and form a triangle (Cone) and fill stuffing inside.


5. Seal properly with water
6. Repeat the above process and make all the samosas.
7. Now heat oil for deep frying and fry all the samosas on a low flame till they are crispy golden brown.
8. Serve with tomato ketchup or tamarind chutney.
