Chakli is a deep fried snack made from rice flour, gram flour, wheat flour or a mixture of lentil flours. They are also known as Murukku in south.
Chakli is mostly prepared by Maharashtrians during Diwali festival and is loved by all age groups. ππ

Ingredients:
6 cups Hot water
1 tsp Dalda (Vanaspathi)
1 tbsp Cumin seeds (Jeera)
1 tbsp Sesame seeds (til)
3 tbsp Red Chilli Powder (lal mirch Powder)
2 tbsp salt
1 tbsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tbsp hing (Asafoetida)
4 cups Rice Flour (chawal ka aata)
1 Cup Phutana Dal flour (Bursting lentil flour)
Chakli Maker
Oil for deep frying
Recipe:
- Heat 6 cups water, add 1 tsp of Dalda (use only dalda so that the chakli will turn crispy). Mix well.
- Now add cumin seeds, sesame seeds, red chili powder, salt, turmeric powder and hing to the water and mix well for no lumps.
- Slowly add the rice flour and bursting lentil flour to the water and mix well for no lumps
- Cover with a lid and leave it aside for 5 mins
- After 5 mins, slowly start kneading the dough (Be careful as the dough would be hot)
- Grease your hands with little oil and knead well for 10-12 mins
- Once the dough is kneaded and its soft, grease the chakli maker with little oil and start keeping little dough in the chakli maker
- Use a plastic cover / butter paper and make all chaklis on that.
- Heat oil for deep frying and fry all the chaklis on low flame till they are crispy golden brown.
- Delicious and mouth watering Chaklis are ready.
